Advanced Mezzanine Card (AMC)
The Advanced Mezzanine Card (AMC) standard was originally designed as a flexible way to add processor and I/O modules to ATCA carrier boards, with multiple AMCs fitting on to each carrier. This approach facilitated the design of highly modular, scalable systems that can be built and upgraded with a fine degree of granularity. Use of the AMC standard was later extended into MicroTCA systems, where they are connected directly into a backplane, with no need for carrier boards. Today AMCs provide a wide choice of processing and I/O technologies for designers of both ATCA and MicroTCA systems.
