Co-op (Integrated Solutions Systems Integration Group)

Responsibilities: The System Solutions and Integration group is looking for EE, CE, or EET students to work with systems and Integration engineers in the group. Candidates must to be fast learners and self-motivated, independent workers. They must have the ability to work under pressure and the willingness to work in varying conditions. SSI Coop candidates may work on a project through all its stages: from the initial brief for a concept; through the design and development stage; to the testing of one or more prototypes; and through to the final manufacture and implementation of a new product or system.  Responsibilities include: Interpret test results and provide written recommendations for changes to product design/processes. Research off the shelf hardware and software products need to develop fixtures to test product design. Design electronic test circuits and software programs to aid in the testing of product design. Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair of all electronic-, electrical-, and computer-based equipment. Maintain SSI hardware inventory and calibration schedules. Test, troubleshoot and repair completed products and field returns as required. Requisition required parts if kits are incomplete or parts are damaged and enter data into the record keeping system as necessary. Working with engineering, recommend changes in design, manufacturing procedures and test equipment to improve manufacturability or reliability. Keep accurate records of time spent on each item and any problem encountered. Prepares product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Following written or verbal instruction, assemble products to schematics and/or blueprint specifications using a variety of hand tools including some precision soldering techniques. 

Qualifications: Qualifications: Must be mechanically inclined; able to use hand tools such as gauges, screwdriver; able to read torque. Solder splicing and soldering skills required. Ability to perform all manual assembly and technician operation. Basic computer skills. Basic understanding of electronic components and mechanical assembly techniques. Ability to read micrometers, verniers, torques and other measuring equipment. Ability to read complex drawings, schematics and blueprints. Use test equipment, power supplies, volt meters and scopes. US Citizen or Green Card Holder.

We provide our customers with deep domain expertise to help them solve their challenging embedded computing problems. This position in the SSI group would take direction from senior systems and integration engineers in order to help deliver on customer needs or to better enable the group to offer additional value to our customers at a lower cost point in the future. Responsibilities would include: development of test scripts, code and/or jigs. Execution of initial tests, contribution to an overall test framework resolution of customer issues, documentation of test procedures, and other responsibilities as directed by senior staff.  

Qualifications: Qualifications: Enrolled in a BS or MS degree awarding program, preferably CS, EE, or ECE. General knowledge of Linux OS and scripting in at least one language (e.g. bash, csh, tsch, tcl, expect, perl, and/or python). Experience in programming in C and/or C++. Familiarity with basic office applications. US Citizen or Green Card Holder. Additional Preferred Qualifications:Programming VBA, Visual Basic, Visual C/C++/C#, Access databases. Experience with building/customizing Linux kernels, bootloaders, and/or the Linux device driver model. Development within an ODE (such as eclipse) knowledge of posix threads and BSD sockets. Experience with embedded development environments a plus. Knowledge of SNMP and MIB structure also helpful.

RF Engineering Co-op - Hudson, NH

Responsibilities: Supports the RF design engineering team in the development of new products and test engineering in the development of test systems.  Performs RF and microwave test and characterization tasks ranging from routine to complex depending on the product and works closely with design engineers to verify product performance vs. predictions. Typical products include amplifiers, oscillators, mixers, switches and filters. Integrated products will include many of these functions as well as control circuits and power conditioning.  May perform straightforward RF and analog/digital design tasks primarily for test fixtures and interfaces required to evaluate and characterize the product.  RF tests include gain, noise figure, compression point, intermodulation and spurious signal rejection.  Work as a member of the RF and Microwave product development team supporting the design engineers through product test, device characterization, test system implementation and  validation .  Responsibilites: Responsible for active and passive component test and characterization. Responsible for integrated microwave assembly (IMA) prototype test and optimization.  Responsible for automated test software and hardware implementation and validation  Responsible for building test fixtures and test interface hardware for IMAs Responsible for developing and documenting test/tune techniques for complex IMAs  Responsible for test design verification testing (DVT) of IMA prototypes. Responsible for automating test equipment during prototype IMA development to support a robust DVT process.Works on problems of limited scope  Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtainedBuild stable working relationships internally RF and Microwave Test Equipment; Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Sources, Power Meters,  Noise Figure Meters, Scalar Analyzers Analog and Digital Test Equipment; Oscilloscopes, Data Analyzers, Digital Multimeters. RF Engineer (Entry Level)

Work with functional specifications to develop switch-based control products including multi-throw switches, phase shifters, and attenuators for both low power and high power applications through 18 GHz. RF bench testing and product characterization will be a significant portion of daily workload. Will learn to effectively execute, interpret and report design verification test results on engineering development products and support their transition to manufacturing. Responsible for providing guidance for the development of automated methods of testing. Work with manufacturing, sales and program management to develop project timelines and program status. Build productive internal/external working relationships. 

Qualifications: BSEE or equivalent • 0-2 years demonstrated experience in RF/analog design • Knowledge of diode and FET functional blocks. • Software experience including: Microsoft Office.
